Senior Projects of Ravena
is located at 9 Bruno Blvd. It offers nutritious meals and social
activities to all senior citizens age 60 or older. Hot,
nutritionally balanced noontime meals are served Tuesdays,
Wednesdays, and Fridays and evening meals are served on Mondays and
Thursdays at 5:00 PM. These meals are planned by Albany County
Office for the Aging and meet all state and county nutritional
standards. Suggested contributions for these meals are $2.50
noontime and $3.00 evenings.
Recreational activities
are numerous. A poolroom where billiards is played weekdays is
available. Hours are 10:00 A.M. to 4:00 PM. and Thursdays from 2:00
PM. to 9:00 PM. All types of card games are played in the Senior
Lounge. Recreational Bingo is played for the seniors on Monday and
Thursday evenings. Wednesday mornings at 10:00 A.M. the ladies
participate in arts and crafts. The Leisure Club which is the fund
raising group, sponsors various bus trips to places of interest, fun
and game nights, socials, etc.
Senior Projects has a
passenger van available to seniors for transportation to and from
the center for meals and activities, and medical appointments
locally. Grocery shopping and errands are available every Wednesday
after lunch. Suggested contribution for use of the van is $1.00 for
meals and $2.00 for shopping or medical appointments.
In addition to the
on-premises meals, the Center also has a Meals on Wheels program.
Hot and cold meals are delivered Monday through Friday to homebound
persons in southern Albany County. Suggested contributions for these
meals are $3.00 for the hot meals and $4.50 for both hot and cold.
Public Bingo is held at
the Center on Sunday evenings at 7:00 PM. and is open to the public,
sponsored by the Leisure Club.
Through local efforts a
CDTA bus transports seniors to shopping malls in Albany and Colonie
every Tuesday, leaving the Center at 9:00 A.M. and returning at 2:30
PM. |
